Aime Mabika is finally on the verge of being handed a Zambian passport. Mabika who is currently on the books of MLS club side Inter Miami CF will be handed a Zambian passport by the Zambian Authorities as revealed by the Zambia Minister of Youth and Sport Elvis Nkandu. The Zambian Government in collaboration with the Zambian FA have been on a recruitment drive of late trying to lure players of Zambian descent and playing in foreign leagues to come home. Honourable Nkandu had this to say regards the matter:

“We wish to officially announce to the nation that the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Ministry of Affairs and Internal Security has cleared and issued Amie Mabika with a Zambian Passport”.

“We have since communicated to the Football Association of Zambia – FAZ via a phone call about the collection of Amie Mabika’s Zambian Passport tomorrow, Tuesday 7th March 2023.”

Mabika was born in Lusaka, Zambia to Congolese parents. He moved to Lexington Kentucky aged 8. He attended the University of Kentucky where he was a standout member of their soccer team. Mabika was approached by the www.chipolopolodiehards.com in 2021 on his thoughts of playing for the Zambia National Team to which he agreed. The then Zambia National Team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was informed and all action was put in place which ensured Mabika featuring for Zambia in an International friendly against Congo Brazzaville in March 2022.
